Climate Change Information Kit

To help understand the current complexities and uncertainties surrounding the issue of Climate Change the NSW Farmers’ Association has developed a Climate Change Information Kit which aims to inform Members of the current status of the Government’s climate change policy, likely developments in the near future as well as the implications for agriculture based upon the current policy directions. The Information Kit complements work already undertaken by the Association on climate change.

Flooding - Mid North Coast

Following damage to infrastructure, fences and farming land from the Mid-North Coast floods, financial assistance in the form of concessional loans are now available to farmers in the Greater Taree City Council and Great Lakes Local Government Areas.  The assistance is provided under the Agricultural Natural Disaster Arrangements.  Further information regarding the assistance is available from the NSW Rural Assistance Authority phone 1800 678 593 or www.raa.nsw.gov.au

New Approach to Bovine Johne’s Disease

From 31 March 2008 new rules affecting Bovine Johne’s Disease will come into effect. For beef producers who only ever purchase cattle from pure beef herds there will be little change. However those who buy cattle from dairy holdings will now have to take greater responsibility. Please see the following links for more information. It is really important that all beef and dairy producers read this information.
