Bathurst Branch Motion to NSW Farmers Water Taskforce

That the NSW Farmers Association communicate in the strongest terms to all levels of  government that the basic water rights of farmers (domestic and Stock rights) should not be impinged upon or removed through the transfer of water to other users (as happened recently in Bathurst and Tamworth):

1.      Without full disclosure and a consultation period with all water users involved.
2.      Without the highest level of urban water restrictions having already been applied in the regional centre in question.

In a circumstance where government attempts to alter the basic farm water rights, it shall not do so in the midst of a severe drought where the farmers involved are left with no water and no time or funding to secure alternative supplies. With lessons from the most recent drought, government should undertake prior planning in localities with known water supply issues and allow for appropriate compensation to fully fund alternative water supplies to those whose water supply will likely be compromised.

Guest Speaker

NSW Farmers Workplace Relations team member to discuss Job Keeper and answer WR related questions.
