Region 13

Region 13 covers the north coast region from Manning Valley north to the Tweed. This diverse agricultural region supports a with wide range of local food and fibre including beef, dairy, subtropical fruits, sugar cane, blueberries, macadamias, oysters, pork and timber. The farm gate value of primary production on the North Coast is exceeds $1 billion per annum and rises to about $2 billion per annum when processing is included. Approximately 1 in 8 working local people are employed in primary production. When processing is included, this, particularly in the agriculture and forest industries.  The current recorded value of mineral production from the North Coast is nearly $30 million per annum, comprising predominantly construction materials. The region boasts a vibrant local farmers market sector and is home to historic beef and dairy cattle properties and successful farmer cooperatives such as Norco, Oz Berries and the cane harvesting industry.
