About the Association

The NSW Farmers Association is the representative voice of farmers in NSW. We are a dedicated team of Policy Analysts, Industrial Relations specialists and people with years of experience in rural communities. We work together to ensure the best possible results for farmers, rural and regional communities. We work hard to develop effective working relationships with key politicians and public servants to represent your farming concerns and to achieve effective legislation that benefits farmers in NSW.

Marketing & Communications Manager - Sydney CBD
$60 - $80k

In this newly created role you will create and implement a broad range of Marketing Communications plans to support the strategy of NSW Farmers, and develop and maintain relationships with commercial alliances. You must be someone with great passion and initiative who can work autonomously.

Your Responsibilities
In this diverse and exciting role you will:

  • Create and implement Marketing Communications projects and plans
  • Create and draft concepts and content for marketing and promotional activities such as brochures, flyers and promotional materials
  • Draft and edit newspaper articles and member newsletters
  • Develop membership marketing and communications campaigns
  • Manage the content for the website
  • Manage outbound member communications and promotions
  • Develop templates consistent with the marketing strategy
  • Maintain a database of all marketing material and its effectiveness
  • Advertising research and management
  • Analysis of relevant marketing research and data
  • Networking with various stakeholders
  • Increase the profile of the Association through marketing channels
  • With the CEO, develop, maintain and service key commercial alliances
  • Attract and maintain new corporate sponsorships for NSW Farmers and events such as field days
  • Promote NSW Farmers at industry and political events

We are looking for

  • Minimum 3 years experience in implementing marketing and communications
  • Superior writing skills
  • Ability to analyse relevant data
  • High level verbal communication skills
  • Someone who is ideas driven
  • High level networking and relationship building skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or relevant

Industrial Relations Adviser - Sydney CBD

Applications are sought from persons with a strong interest in workplace relations, including IR, HR and WHS (Work Health and Safety). This role would ideally suit a recent graduate with some experience in a practicing IR or WHS advisory role.

Reporting to the Industrial Relations Manager, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide industrial relations advice regarding employee relations issues (IR, HR, OHS, workers compensation) to Members;
  • Interpret industrial relations awards and pay rates for members;
  • Advise members on the meaning and effect of all legislation concerning employer rights and obligations;
  • Assist in the preparation of circulars and articles for Association publications and other correspondence;
  • Promote activities of the Industrial Association that increase members’ awareness about their IR, HR and OH&S obligations;
  • Provide support for the overall operation of the IR team.

Applicants with tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, Employment Relations or Law will be looked upon favourably.

Senior Industrial Relations Adviser - Sydney CBD
$60 - $70K

Applications are sought from professionals with a proficient working knowledge of workplace related laws.

Reporting to the Industrial Relations Manager, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide advice regarding employee relations issues (IR, HR, WHS, workers compensation) to members of the NSW Farmers’ Industrial Association;
  • Interpret industrial relations awards and pay rates for members;
  • Advise members on the meaning and effect of all legislation concerning employer rights and obligations;
  • In consultation with the Manager, represent and advocate on behalf of individual members on IR matters involving the Fair Work Ombudsman;
  • Assist the Manager on the development of internal and external submissions, papers and other presentations;
  • Prepare circulars and articles for Association publications and other correspondence;
  • Promote activities of the Industrial Association that increase members’ awareness about their IR, HR and WH&S obligations;
  • Work to improve the capability of the IR team and support the Association’s membership growth initiatives;
  • Assist the Manager in providing mentorship and training for more junior colleagues

Some regional travels will be required for this position.

Applicants with tertiary qualifications in Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management, Employment Relations or Law will be looked upon favourably.

Relevant experience, a working knowledge of workplace relations frameworks and understanding of employment rights and obligations in relation to the agricultural sector and farming enterprises or experience in an industrial association is desirable.

Policy Advisor - Sydney CBD
$45 - $60k

You will use your use your economic and analytical skills to drive policy outcomes for NSW Farmers Association members. You will be reporting to two Policy Directors, Policy Director, Socio-Economic and Policy Director, Cropping. This role will cover the policy areas of rural affairs, economics, business, trade, communities, horticulture, cropping and agricultural chemicals. You will be tasked with managing the relationships with the various member committees in these policy areas and you will be responsible for providing appropriate support to the Policy Directors. This is an exciting and broad based role which will allow you to develop your skills across a number of policy areas.

Your Responsibilities

• Examining the priority policy issues impacting on farmers and consulting with industry and government to progress these issues;
• Undertaking research and assisting with the development of  policy solutions to issues concerning our Members;
• Providing secretariat support to the relevant Policy Directors and committees in order to develop, implement and promote policy;
• Developing strong linkages with key industry stakeholders; and
• Ensuring relevant information is effectively communicated to Members.

We are looking for

• Someone who takes initiative, considers options and has a desire for learning
• High level research and analytical skills
• An understanding of economic analysis
• An ability to build and maintain relationships
• High level of organisational and administrative skills
• Although not essential, candidates with experience in agriculture or industry will be looked upon favourably.
• Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Law, Policy, Business or Agriculture
