Policy Officer - Sydney CBD

The NSW Farmers’ Association is currently seeking applications for a Policy Officer to work with our farmer members, industry and government stakeholders.
 
Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Examining the priority policy issues impacting on our farmer members and consulting with industry and government to progress these issues;
  • Ensuring economic rigour is applied to key lobbying campaigns;
  • Undertaking research and assisting with the development of policy issues affecting members;
  • Providing secretariat support to the relevant committees committee in order to develop, implement and promote policy;
  • Developing strong linkages with key industry stakeholders; and
  • Ensuring relevant information is effectively communicated to Members.

To be successful in this position you will have tertiary qualifications preferably in an Agricultural, Policy, Economics, Econometrics, Animal Science or Commerce-related field along with sound Microsoft Office, research and communication skills.
 
Although not essential, candidates with experience in agriculture or industry will be looked upon favourably.

Communications Officer - Sydney CBD

NSW Farmers’ Association is seeking to appoint a Communications Officer to assist the Media Manager with the development of internal and external communication materials to facilitate and support favorable lobbying positioning and marketing of the Association.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the production of the Association’s newspaper
  • Creation of public relations materials in a number of formats i.e. social media, television, radio, interviews, online;
  • Creation of communications plans;
  • Producing editorials and communications materials;
  • Ensuring continuity of all outgoing communications e.g. flyers and articles;
  • Assisting in the Association’s media related events i.e. Annual Conference, Mackellar Media Awards

Essential

  • High level written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Media experience.
  • A track record of successfully communicating complex issues to a rural audience.

To be successful in this position you will have tertiary qualifications preferably in PR, Communications, Journalism or Media.

Salary will be negotiable depending on the skills and qualifications of the successful candidate.
