General Manager Policy

Sydney CBD

The NSW Farmers Association is dedicated to representing the interests of members and the farming sector across NSW to ensure that their views are considered by all levels of Government as well as with other interest groups and stakeholders.

This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who has an excellent understanding of the policy development process, rural issues and proven managerial experience to become part of our Senior Management team and play a key role that will have a significant impact on the future of agricultural producers in NSW.  This is a great opportunity for a proven General Manager, or a Manager/Team Leader ready to take the next step.

With an understanding of rural issues and a proven ability to work across a broad range of areas, you will lead a team focused on delivering measurable outcomes across the spectrum of agricultural and social issues. It is critical that you possess a thorough understanding of emerging issues and address these through effective research methodologies and team management. The successful candidate will:

  • Manage the implementation of Association policies;
  • Lead the research/analysis of policy issues;
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of policy professionals;
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Government and industry stakeholders;
  • Provide high level policy and strategic advice; and
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for the Association

Applicants are sought from policy, government, law, extensive and intensive agriculture, economic or conservation and resource management backgrounds.  Your academic qualifications will be essential to your success in this role. An understanding of government and its processes would be advantageous.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated.
