APVMA to review five chemicals

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority has published its schedule for the next round of its chemical review program.  Five chemicals listed for review are the dithiocarbamates (mancozeb, thiram etc), 2nd generation ant-coagulant rodenticides, cyanazine + simazine, phorate (Thimet) and phosphine (grain protectant). In early 2016 the APVMA will start the scoping what will be required for each review.  NSW Farmers will work with peak commodity bodies across industry to provide feedback into the review process.  Click here for more details.

The APVMA has also indicated the progression on its review of Omethoate following the recommendation made by the Office of Chemical Safety that the APVMA cannot be satisfied that the use of Omethoate according to existing label directions will not be a risk to workers.  Click here to read more on the Omethoate review.
