NSW Farmers hosts GRDC and DPI Crop Update

This week NSW Farmers hosted the Grains Research and Development Corporation and the NSW Department of Primary Industries at AgQuip to present a crop update. As part of the update, growers heard the latest on disease management for this year' winter crop and the latest developments on crop nutrition, including deep placement of phosphorus and investments in chickpea breeding for resistance to fungal disease. During the update Niall Blair, Minister for Primary Industries, announced the release of the new desi chickpea variety PBA Seamer, which has resistance traits to Ascochyta blight, botrytis grey mould and moderate resistance to Phytophthora root rot.
