Horticulture

The Horticulture Committee represents members from the diverse and dynamic horticulture industries which produce over $1 billion in farm gate value and employ over 10,000 people in NSW.

The committee is made of representatives elected from seven district councils encompassing NSW. The horticulture section of the Association works closely with a number of national bodies such as NFF (National Farmers Federation), AUSVEG Limited (Australian Vegetable and Potato Growers Federation) and APAL (Australian Apple and Pear Limited).

NSW Farmers not only works on specialist horticulture matters, such as the Horticulture Code of Conduct and matters of horticulture biosecurity; but also on key cross-commodity issues which have particular effect on the horticulture industries, including land use planning, supermarket power and access to safe and effective chemicals.

Horticulturalist members have access to a specialist horticulture Regional Services Manager, Michael Burt, and Policy Director – Cropping and Horticulture, Robert Hardie, as part of NSW Farmers Policy and Membership teams.
