1.  Biosecurity; NLIS

The traceability of livestock for disease and food safety purposes has increased in importance with international incidents and implementation is occurring in Australia.  The goat industry must resolve how to implement the National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS) so as to meet traceability requirements and retain market access.  Given the goat industry consists of intensive, broadacre farmed and rangeland production systems the implementation is fraught with difficulties.
