2.  Natural resource planning and water quality protection

The NSW Government gazetted the Oyster Industry Sustainable Aquaculture Strategy in December 2006. The welcome strategy aims to provide water quality that enables oyster production, and outlines best practice industry guidelines that establish the relationship between the industry and the community and, in turn, the industry’s use of Crown water.

The Premier’s Department is coordinating the completion of the Oyster Industry Sustainable Aquaculture Strategy (OISAS) which is both a State planning tool (SEPP 62 – Sustainable Aquaculture) and establishes the relationship between the oyster industry, community and Government.

The industry looks forward to implementation of OISAS.
