3. Tenure insecurity - land

From 2001, the industry’s ‘land based’ Crown leases expired or were due to expire for over half the
industry. The sites have been assessed, some consultative meetings have been held but tenure
remains unallocated. Sites do not form part of the natural resource planning module of OISAS.

The industry seeks that the Government restore suitable tenure for land based leases.
