Fodder donation As a result of floods, there may be farmers in need of fodder to support livestock. Rather than physically handle any donations NSW Farmers is using an electronic register to facilitate the demand and supply of fodder where individuals will be able to contact each other directly.
If you are willing to donate or sell fodder please click here to register your details. Please note this information will be publicised on our website to allow people looking for fodder to contact you directly and arrange delivery.
Please note that if you are located in a natural disaster area there is a transport subsidy available through the DPI for the transport of fodder or agisted stock. More information and application forms are available from the DPI website http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/emergency/flood
Donated fodder is a valuable feed source for livestock following floods however NSW Farmers is unable to attest to the quality or standard of this fodder and suggest that the normal precautions should be taken to ensure that it is of a quality suitable for consumption. The DPI have information on buying hay or silage after a flood on their website http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/agriculture/emergency/flood
Click here to view the list of donations we have received, please contact our Member Service Centre with the ID Number of the donation and they will give you the contact details of the donator.
Volunteer support NSW Farmers is working with Blazeaid, Local Government and Rotary to coordinate volunteers to help farmers with recovery activities following the floods.
Volunteering We are grateful for any volunteer support that people may be willing to offer. However please note that as the repair process following the floods could take a number of months and the need for volunteers will depend on the damage and the workload of local farmers. Where there is demand, Blazeaid will establish local centres where volunteers will be able to congregate and be assigned to local farmers who need assistance repairing damage from the floods. Until there is an assessment of the damage and these centres established we will be recording details of those people willing to volunteer.
Please list your offer to volunteer by clicking here and filling in your details. We will then use this to contact you when the need arises.
Looking for Volunteers If farmers are needing volunteers to assist with the repair of flood damage they should click here to register their details. If there is a demonstrated demand for volunteers in an area, NSW Farmers will contact Blazeaid with a view to them establishing a volunteer centre in your local area. To make it worthwhile for a centre to be established there needs to be a number of farmers in an area that could utilise volunteers so we encourage all farmers to speak with neighbours so that a work program can be coordinated. If a centre is established, farmers who have registered their interest will be notified and Blazeaid will coordinate the volunteer program.
Blazeaid is a volunteer organisation set up following the Victorian Bushfires to support farmers repair damage as a result of natural disasters. For more information click here
