New NSW Farmers regional team member

NSW Farmers has a new face in the South West region.

Former rural journalist Simone Norrie has joined the NSW Farmers regional team and is looking forward to promoting the best outcomes for local food and fibre production.

Simone hails from a sheep and cropping operation near Eugowra in Central West NSW, which laid the foundations for a pathway to an agricultural career.

She ventured into rural journalism and has spent the past two years at The Land newspaper covering farming issues in southern NSW.

“Working in rural journalism gave me the opportunity to work with many experienced farmers, agents, agronomists and industry representatives. I’m looking forward to continuing those relationships in my new role,” Simone said.

“The regional services manager position will allow me to work with farmers and regional communities and to continue to use my media and communication skills.”

Simone will be based in Wagga Wagga and look after members in the Riverina and the Central West.

“The area I cover is very diverse and I’m excited it not only spans across most of the Riverina, but also includes parts of the Central West where I grew up and went to school and where my family are still farming,” she said.

“NSW Farmers has something to offer in terms of support and benefits for farmers of every age, from every commodity group and every business size.”
