New ministerial appointments welcome

NSW Farmers Association today congratulated the new Baird-Grant Cabinet saying it looked forward to working with new ministers to deliver positive outcomes for farmers and communities in country NSW.

President of the association Fiona Simson said: “We welcome the promotion of Niall Blair to the ministry with the agriculture, land and water portfolio and look forward to working with him on our recently signed Memorandum of Understanding.”

“Delivering on all items in the MOU means farming businesses in NSW will see immediate improvements in the legislative regime and in turn their bottom line. 

“Farmers were particularly pleased to hear the Premier declare that ‘regional NSW is back at the heart of government,’” Ms Simson said.

NSW Farmers also congratulated Minister Duncan Gay who retained the roads, maritime and freight portfolio, Minister Rob Stokes who was elevated to the planning portfolio and Mark Speakman who now has carriage of the environment and heritage portfolio.

In addition the association welcomed John Barilaro who gained the regional development portfolio in addition to skills and small business and Rick Colless announced as the Parliamentary Secretary for Natural Resources and Regional Planning.
Ms Simson said: “Our association and members sincerely thank outgoing Ministers Katrina Hodgkinson and Kevin Humphries for their tireless work for agriculture and water during the last term of government.”

“We urge all members of cabinet to continue their important work standing up for farmers and agriculture in our state.”
