We welcome appointment of LLS chair of chairs

NSW Farmers today welcomed the announcement that Camden dairy and poultry producer and businessman Mr John Macarthur-Stanham will be the inaugural chair of the new Local Land Services (LLS) board of chairs.

The Department of Primary Industries has said that Local Land Services, an amalgamation of the current Catchment Management Authorities (CMA), Livestock Health and Pest Authorities (LHPA) and some agricultural advisory services in the DPI, will be operational by January 2014.
NSW Farmers’ Chief Executive Officer Matt Brand is optimistic that the appointment is a good fit.

He said: “Mr Macarthur-Stanham has both hands-on farming experience as well as an extensive business background. He has held various board positions from dairy cooperatives to CSR sugar and his commitment to and experience in agriculture is wholeheartedly welcomed.”
“The chair of chairs will be a challenging role, not only with the short time frames that the LLS must now work within to become operational on time but also because the first chairs are vital in establishing a positive working culture between farmers, land managers, government and the wider community.
“It is imperative that the LLS boards are effective in engaging in locally driven issues as well as state-wide priorities requiring a coordinated approach such as weeds and pest animals.
“I am confident that Mr Macarthur-Stanham is an excellent appointment and NSW Farmers looks forward to working with him,” Mr Brand concluded.
