The Association's Policy Division progresses a diverse range of commodity specific and more general issues on behalf of members. These issues are progressed through 20 Committees within the Association in order to ensure that the needs and interests of our members are fully addressed. Generally speaking the issues relate to one of the following five areas; Livestock, Cropping, Conservation and Resource Management, Business, Economics and Trade and Rural Affairs.
Annual Conference and Executive Council are the Association's policy making forums which provide an opportunity for members to have issues discussed and policies established. These polices then form the basis from which Committees undertake various activities in order to ensure the implementation of the specific policy. The Committees work with other like minded organisations on issues of commonality. The commodity specific Committees also provide input to their Peak Councils which include the Cattle Council of Australia, WoolProducers Australia, Australian Dairy Farmers, Sheepmeats Council of Australia, AUSVEG and the Grains Council of Australia. The Association is a key stakeholder in many of these Peak Councils. The Association's commodity specific Committees also liaise with their respective research and development corporations such as Meat and Livestock Australia, Australian Wool Innovation, Dairy Australia, Grains Research and Development Corporation and Australian Pork Limited and Horticulture Australia.
The Association's Committees are supported by a team of Policy professionals who possess a broad ranges of skills and experiences.
