3. Spray Drift ManagementA collaborative education campaign to inform users how to avoid spray drift aims to protect the environment and crops by reducing spray drift and educating pesticide users about their responsibilities. The NSW Farmers Association, Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW), Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), and Cotton Australia combined resources to tackle the common issue of spray drift impact particularly from herbicide spraying. Producers are reminded that the APVMA has placed a seasonal no spray window on the use of 2.4-D high volatile esters from 1 September to 30 April. This is a Phenoxy Herbicide that can cause severe damage to native vegetation and susceptible crops such as cotton, grapes, tomatoes, oilseed crops and ornamentals. See the APVMA website for more information on 2,4-D high volatile esters. www.apvma.gov.au/products/review/current/2_4_d.php Download the Spray Drift Management Factsheet
