Goats

Goat_ThumbnailThe Goat Industry Committee aims to encourage the adoption of best practice in the raising of goats for fibre, milk and meat with the aim of maximising the profitability of the goat industry and its participants.

Its objectives include:

  • To advance, promote and protect the interests of the goat industry in relation to production, health, research and development, welfare, transport and marketing.
  • To make representation to Government and other stakeholders through the Association on all matters relating to the goat industry.
  • To hold or arrange meetings, conferences and field days from time to time in order to inform members, other stakeholders and members of the public on matters related to the goat industry.
  • To undertake and carry out joint functions and to consult, collaborate and co-operate with other Associations and Councils, producers of livestock, meat processors, and meat and livestock exporters for the benefit of the goat industry.

It consists of five members; one each from mohair, cashmere, goat milk, and two from the goat meat industry, one of whom must be from the Western Division.
