Landholder Rights and Opal Mining Access

Only recently the Government announced the opening of Opal Prospecting Area 4 in the Lightning Ridge area with the initial exploration licenses being approved prior to Christmas.

The Council is continuing to seek better public awareness of opal mining and its effects on landholders.

The Council will be continuing to make representations to the relevant Ministers and Parliamentary Advisors to ensure pressure is maintained on Government to adequately protect landholder rights.
