Wool
The NSW Farmers Association Wool Committee is comprised of eight grower members elected by the Associations Executive Council, its policy setting body. The Wool Committee is classed as an Advisory Committee to Executive Council so therefore it can only advise on policy to Executive Council, it cannot form Association policy in its own right. The Committee members are located across all wool growing regions of NSW, therefore ensuring strong representation on the issues facing wool growing members of the Association.
The Committee contributes at a national level through WoolProducers and at a state level the Committee is in close contact with other Association Committees, particularly the Sheepmeats Committee and the Animal Welfare Committee.
OJD Prevalence Area changes
From 1 January 2011 some OJD prevalence area boundaries in NSW were moved to reflect changing infection rates around the state.
Industry & investment NSW and the NSW Farmers Association chose to undertake and rely on a detailed assessment of prevalence in each LHPA area.
This study found that through making minor adjustments, it was possible to improve the schemes integrity while actually putting more producers in an improved prevalence area. Click here to read more...
