NSW Farmers and CWA statement on the mouse plague Parliamentary briefing

NSW Farmers and the CWA of NSW  hosted our Parliamentary Briefing on the mouse plague to reflect the deep concerns of our members and regional communities on this worsening economic and public health situation impacting many parts of NSW.

Suggestions that this was politically motivated are offensive to the families, businesses and communities who are enduring immense stress and hardship in the face of unprecedented mouse numbers. Our members travelled a long way to share their stories of the appalling impact the plague is having on their farms, in their homes and to their livelihood.

NSW Farmers and the CWA of NSW did not receive a request to change the time of the briefing so more parliamentarians could attend.

The CWA of NSW was granted a meeting with Minister Marshall in the late afternoon, following the morning briefing and were able to further communicate to the Minister the extent and severity of the issue being experienced across the state.

NSW Farmers and the CWA of NSW will continue to constructively engage with relevant Ministers to encourage a comprehensive whole-of-government response to this complex and stressful human and economic challenge facing many NSW communities west of the Great Diving Range.
