NSW Farmers explores the road to 30 by 30

NSW Farmers will tonight host Regional Transport and Roads Minister Paul Toole in the latest instalment of the “30 by 30” webinar series.

Moderated by Daily Telegraph journalist Lachlan Leeming, the online forum will discuss important issues around regional freight and infrastructure, which are critical for the success of the state’s agriculture sector, as NSW Farmers works towards $30 billion in farmgate output by 2030.

NSW Farmers President James Jackson thanked Mr Toole for being part of the event, which will look at the progress of key election commitments, the improvement of the Great Western Highway and opportunities for agriculture to better utilise freight offerings.

“Minister Toole and the NSW Government made some key promises ahead of the last election and we’re keen to find out where they’re up to in a regional sense,” Mr Jackson said.

“We are particularly interested in ways road and rail freight can be used to realise our goal of increasing the agricultural sector to $30 billion by 2030.”

Mr Jackson said the “30 by 30” target of the NSW agriculture sector was an ambitious but important goal to set in order to propel the conversation on the sustainability and future viability of one of Australia’s most important sectors.

“The productivity of the NSW agriculture sector ranges between $12 billion and $15 billion annually,” Mr Jackson said.

“Growing agriculture will not only stimulate the NSW economy as it recovers COVID-19; it will help pave the way toward a more food secure future.

“We’re working to deliver forward-thinking policies that will allow farmers to drive our economy and food security into the next decade.”

The webinar will run from 6pm to 7pm on Monday, September 20. Please register using this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_gpXAZxFVS7WSK4RYlyqLTw
