Farmers welcome government program extension

NSW Farmers Rural Affairs Committee Chair Garry Grant has thanked the state government for continuing to fund the Farm Business Resilience Program.

On Thursday NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said the state, in partnership with the Commonwealth, will provide $12.1 million to continue the popular program to June 2024 – a key request from NSW Farmers.

“This is a hands-on, practical way to engage with farmers and work with them to prepare for future challenges,” Mr Grant said.

“Our farmers produce some of the best food and fibre in the world but they’ve been up against it recently with the end of a drought, fires, floods, a mouse plague, COVID and now the inflation pressures driving prices up.

“This program will help them build their best strategy for sustaining their businesses and building a stronger farming sector.”
