Regions star in state election

NSW Farmers congratulates Gladys Berejiklian and the Coalition on claiming victory in a State election that starred a focus on regional equity.

NSW Farmers President James Jackson said NSW did not stand for Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong in this election, and the results have demonstrated this accordingly.

“It was good to see that all the parties had their eye on regional seats and the future of local food and fibre production,” Mr Jackson said

Mr Jackson said there was a clear message from regional NSW that infrastructure and services must be on par with those in the city.

“We have a clear list of commitments from the Coalition that now need to be fulfilled to help reach equity and to support growth in agriculture.”

“We look forward to working with the government on investments in regional roads, water infrastructure, ongoing drought support and the agribusiness precinct at the new Western Sydney Airport.”

Mr Jackson said NSW Farmers will also be engaging with the Coalition and other parties to improve biosecurity, biodiversity management and right to farm.

“I would also like to congratulate Gladys Berejiklian on becoming the first woman to be elected as Premier of NSW. It is a great achievement.”
