Alice Cudmore: The Graham Blatch Memorial Goobang Scholarship

Hometown: Quirindi, NSW
University: University of New England
Degree: Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary)

It was while working on a station in the Northern Territory as a Governess that Alice discovered her passion for rural and remote education. The following year she began studying a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) at the University of New England.

Over her course of study, including placements in numerous rural and remote placements, Alice has seen an extreme lack of knowledge from students about where food comes from and how it is produced. Following graduation Alice looks forward to implementing programs such as ‘From Paddock to Plate’ in rural communities and enforcing the equity in education throughout New South Wales regardless of location.

Her hope is that this will allow the next generation to develop an interest in, and understanding of, the agricultural industry, leading to healthier eating in rural communities.
