The $13 million Early Needs Recovery Program (ENRP) was part of the $150 million Primary Industry Support package which is co-funded by the Australian and NSW governments. The program aimed to support primary producers in the most flood-impacted regions and industries of NSW to regain productivity.
This project provided support to oyster growers in NSW to further their skills and knowledge, with the objective of building a more resilient and productive oyster industry. The outputs for this project included:
- Employment of a dedicated Hatchery Liaison Officer to support growers with specific advice
- Delivery of ten on-farm workshops and two in-hatchery open days to help oyster farmers learn more about appropriate spat handling techniques and technologies. These events were attended by over 75 oyster growers across NSW.
