Varroa Mite Response Update
With the outbreak of the Varroa Mite on our honeybees around eighteen (18) months ago in NSW, we have seen some substantial impacts for many of our producers on the Central Coast being in the 'Red zone'. Over that time, NSW DPI have completed a large amount of time and work to try to help combat the larger implications that this pest has had on many sectors of the agriculture industry. There is still a lot of work to be done.
  
To keep producers up to date with the latest information, NSW Farmers' Central Coast Branch invites members and non-members to its Varroa Mite Update to be held at the Mangrove Mountain Memorial Club on 14 June at 6pm. 
  
All branch members are encouraged to bring a non-member as a guest and introduce them to the benefits of NSW Farmers membership
  
Guest speakers:

• Jamie Perry-Meijer - Response Resilience Officer, NSW DPI
• Nathan Cutter - Manager Invasive Species Programs, Invasive Species Biosecurity Unit, NSW DPI
  
Points of discussion will include:

• What has happened to date in the Varroa mite response?
• What have you found in regards to outbreak source?
• How likely are we to manage or eradicate the varroa mite?
• What is the plan for the future?
• Wild European bee baiting program
• What grants are available to farmers? 
• What is the long term prognosis for bee keepers and producers reliant on pollination?
• How can farmers assist DPI?
