Farm safety program launched

NSW Farmers and SafeWork NSW are pleased to be able to announce that the Farm Safety Advisory Program has been launched.

The Program builds on the Pilot Program conducted during 2019 – 2020 and has been created to assist farming business and communities build safer environments in which to live and work.

NSW Farmers President James Jackson said working life on the farm was rewarding but did include a diverse range of safety risk factors. 

“Farming is a rewarding but potentially dangerous occupation, the more we talk and learn how to manage the risks and dangers, the better,” Mr Jackson said.

“The Farm Safety Advisory Program is a winner for me and for other farmers in achieving this awareness.” 

The program will have dedicated advisors who can provide support, advice, and resources to improve WHS on farms. An advisory session with a Farm Safety Advisor can be delivered in various settings, including on your own farm with discussions tailored specifically to your farm business operations.

Further delivery of the program will start to occur in the coming weeks, with COVID-safe methods currently in development, which will enable one on one and group participation to occur both face-to-face and online as appropriate.

As part of the program, a WHS advisory line and an online repository of WHS resources will be made available to farming businesses in NSW.

All NSW farming operations in the small to medium business category are eligible to participate in this free program which is proudly delivered by NSW Farmers and funded by SafeWork NSW.
